Wasn't Beth Hart that ridiculously hot chick that went to NU circa 1992-1996 or so?

Haven't heard Amy Winehouse yet but I will say Beth Hart is great. Saw her a long time ago @ one of the AAF Holiday Bashes and she and her band were awesome. I really like the 2 records I have by her, haven't listened to them in a while.

Beth Hart just seems to have much more to offer musically, and without all the trying so hard to cultivate an "image" that Winehouse does. |

It seems that the general media and the NoiseBoard are more concerned with Ms. Winehouse's image than she is? Oh please, the whole drunken dilettante thing Winehouse tries so hard to engender is completely silly. The fastest way have zero cred is to try so hard to project it. Pre ten sious |

Pre ten sious My point is, I don't think she's trying to hard, maybe her manager and marketing team? I've seen interviews with her, she seems pretty matter of fact, no bullshit ... |

See, to me the whole "matter of fact" thing is bullshit with her. She just comes of as trying really really hard to be non chalant, to the point where it nauseates me. She is a poo poo head cockface. |

My wife is a big fan of hers. Something about Beth Hart reminds me of Janis Joplin. Gal can sing. It's ok and all, but I'm not crazy for it.

SOrry, but Beth Hart didn't do much for me on the Beck tour (only place I've heard her). Lot of Berklee-esque oversinging with the requisite Joplin soul-mama thing thrown in. She seemed a pretty good cover-band type singer, but hardly deserving of the spot she was in.
Can't necessarily say AMy WInehouse would have done better in that situation, but at least she writes interesting songs. |

Seriously though, they're both singers who like booze and drugs. Beyond that, there aren't many similarities. One is rock, the other is soul/R&B. It's like saying "Who's a better athlete, Michael Jordan or Tiger Woods?" The Amy Winehouse and Joss Stone comparison made more sense, because at least there was enough in common between them to base such a comparison. Or Amy Winehouse and Lily Allen. But Beth Hart and Amy Winehouse, no. |
