I'd check out machu picchu or the afghani place (I've heard good things)

There is also the Tibetan place across from the Goodwill in Davis Sq that I want to try.

I ate there last year before going to see one of the IFFBoston flicks. a buffet, but I remember it being pretty good.

I was just joking with a friend about some of the sugar substitutes in weight-lossy food, and I think now she's honestly concerned about getting cancer, not because, um, IT'S CANCER, but because if you have a giant tumor it could make you weigh more. wacko.gif

QUOTE(luca brazzi @ May 1 2007, 10:53 AM) *

no requirements.

no time limits.

just a place to chill.

Reminds me of my old apartment, the "Rock n Roll Lounge".
1988-1991

Doors opened every friday and saturday night.
BYODOC (drug of choice)
just hang out and party and shoot the shit till the sun came up.
(sometimes longer)

then everyone turned 21 and became drug addicts and it all ended.

now that we're all old and either over addictions or learned how to be functional with 'em, I think it'd be great to open the doors to a new rock 'n roll lounge...

If I didn't live with a not-very-hearty-partying lady, I could totally see myself doing this again.

It was nice. the same core of about 10-20 people would always come, and they would always bring other new, interesting people.
We had artists, musicians, fashion designers, hip hoppers, hippies, punks ...
Never had any bad experiences in all those years, except for once when some FLUFFY kids showed up and wrote on a poster or two.

But, the few times I tried to go in I got the hairy eyeball and sort of felt like it was a 'family' joint and I was very much intruding. I don't have any problem with that, actually, but I am now less likely to go traipsing into joints without checking first.

I can understand why but it's complicated reasoning. Would you like me to reconnoiter?

I forgot about that ... my bedroom was pitchblack even in the middle of the day. Black Felt curtains with venetian blinds and those roll down drapes.
You quite literally couldn't see your hand in front of your face unless you had the lights on.

Winter and spoons. Lots of spoons. That was more over 30 Royal in 1993.
I did not contribute to the Pinto project.

Wish I could remember the name of the one place in particular... its over in that neighborhood behind the UHaul building, where Ocean State Drums is. I used to live over there and it was my closest bar and always seemed to have good smelling food wafting out. But, the few times I tried to go in I got the hairy eyeball and sort of felt like it was a 'family' joint and I was very much intruding. I don't have any problem with that, actually, but I am now less likely to go traipsing into joints without checking first.

Actually I do have a problem with that. If we are supposed to embrace diversity and all cultures then they should do.

Or to put it another way if they don't want all customers then they should close their doors and run a catering business. If they wanted to be surrounded by all Haitians or Cape Verdeans there are countries named Haiti and Cape Verde where they could do just that.
