So some dummies camped out so they could get an iPhone as soon as it was released.

Would you ever be tool enough to wait in hours or days-long lines for a new product or movie like the iPhone or say, Star Wars?

What sort of lifestyle or occupation do these people have that allows them to take days off to wait for shit like this?

I just can't fathom caring about a product that much.

No. Especially for new technology which, more times than not, haven't gotten the bugs out of the first run of things. Waiting in line for an Iphone pretty confirms your sucker status. I love mac stuff and use mac computers exclusively, but I know better than to buy things from them right away. Takes a bit to work the kinks out.

I'm a huge apple fan and I cant justify an iphone, for $500/$600 what you're getting is just phone with an pretty screen. Internet browsing on a screen that small will be painful, it doesnt have enough storage to store any significant amount of music/movies, you can only install apps that come from apple, you cant replace the battery, it's locked, from what I've seen making a call is about a 6 step process of touching through icons and you cant use any fucntion (including as an ipod) unless you have a contract. Apple should give whoever is in charge of marketing a huge bonus for this release, this thing is hyped more than anything before. I think a lot of people are going to realize that they just spent a shitload of cash on a telephone about a half an hour after they get it. I can see hype about video game consoles and why people line up for those, they are entertainment products and you can play them for hours on end. With the iPhone you'll read your email and then thats it until you need to make a call. Oh, and shame on apple for delaying the next OS release because of this trinket.

Clowns and suckers, the lot of them, the kind of fools you could hustle some money from if you were so inclined.

I'm a big Mac douche myself, but this phone has little appeal to me. My iPod is fine, my phone is fine. No need to mash them together. Plus the cheapest plan is $60.00/month.

for only 450 minutes. If I wanted to match what I get for minutes now, it would be about 100 a month.

I'm a pretty big Mac fan and I actually think the iPhone looks pretty sweet, but I'm not getting one. Needs to be cheaper, more storage space, and internet access needs to be faster. I've heard it's like using dial-up, which as we all recall was painfully slow.

Mike, I think you're wrong about putting it down till you need to make a call. You can listen to music and watch movies on it. I listen to music whenever I'm out walking around, so I could envision loading my phone up with music and maybe a show or two to watch while I wait for the train.

But overall, I think future models will be better and I will wait till generation two comes out.

At least 50 people were camped out at Burlington Mall today. The sight of them physically disgusted me.

An illustration of that would make a great Soviet-era poster criticizing evil capitalism.

Correct. A good Communist would only wait in line for food or matches.

or toilet paper.

If the iPhone was unlocked and able to work with any carrier, I might be one of those losers. No I wouldn't but I might want to get my hands on one. As it is, I can't think of one reason why I need it. And, I've been drinking the Mac koolaid for 20 years.

I don't think most if any of the idiots who camp out, or obsess over being first in line for tech products are pure tech lovers. I think they are vapid losers who identify themselves as techies because they lack any sense of self whatsoever and feel that having all the latest and most expensive gadets somehow mitigates the stark reality of their pathetic, pimply-pussed lives. Any true tech-gear-head that I know takes their sweet ass time in approaching new stuff, and does extensive (to the point of ridiculousness) research in to something like this, rather than be swept up in the hype and run out and buy it "just because" .... especially to the tune of five hundred fuggin simolians ... way steep for an unproven product with so many out of box limitations etc.

Anyway, yeah .... there were some real fucknuts out waiting for their Iphones today. Here's hoping they spend the next week in a product driven downward spiral of dissapointment, denial, and rage. laughing.gif
