Everything I've heard I like.

A lot.

In fact, I'm not sure how the guy slipped by me....but if I were to go and buy something is there anything to look out for?

(ie fat Gene Vincent or Little Richard NOT on Specialty)

Or is it all sure-fire?

This is the one to get. It's on Norton and it's easily available.

It's also absolutely fantastic.

He still performs here and there. He's done a few shows recently in Atlanta with the Black Lips

Cool!

Thanks for the tip!

apparently he's (Hannibal) playing in New York tonight...which may explain why he's been getting played on WFMU.....although they seem to play him a lot regardless.

which show?

all the rock n rollish shows on fmu are definitely huge fans.

i think there might actually be a link on their blog site of the live thing he did with the black lips.

I'm still kind of exploring their webpage but I mainly stick with Downtown Soulville, Music to Spazz By and Fool's Paradise.

There's a dj on there who seems to fill in for people a lot named Debbie who's always playing great stuff.

I don't know if she has a show of her own or not though.

Here's a great comp of the Okeh stuff

I also dig Little Richard's early 70s work with Reprise. There's a complete collection from Rhino Handmade that I would kill for.

That's great to know!
I've always tried to avoid disappointment after the late 60's early 70's Gene Vincent....and later Bill Haley...that I find it better to ask ahead of time now.
I was always happy with the Specialty stuff I have of Little Richard and just assumed that was all the good stuff.

While I've got your ear...I've had Don & Dewey's Specialty stuff for ever...but is there more from them I should know about?

Thanks again for the info.

i'm not sure if its still in the dave the spazz archive, but you should check out the episode that was the norton records 15th anniversary...hannibal was on the show and told some funny fucking stories...
