With The Rumble, Emergenza, Anti-war songs, is this town losing it's testicles when it comes to bands that kick ass and take names? Is this just another town that will be run over by pay to play, bullshit battles of the bands, and subpar, soon-to-be-forgotten community sing-a-longs?

It seems there are no bands in Boston who give a shit and go out and rightfully claim what is theirs.

It doesn't celebrate it, it merely has been producing it as of late. High gas prices have all but eliminated touring for most bands too, so no one exciting is coming from out of town either.

Sure beats what is going on in Des Moines though.

objective arguments about taste have much in common with a dude getting plugged in the butt by another dude.

There are too many bands who can't play ten songs in a row and own each and every one of them. Even if the songs aren't that great too many fucking bands simply can't rip through a set of their own material. A sloppy fun cover here or there is one thing but when you can't even play your own songs in your sleep there is something wrong.

Don't leave the space or your basement until you can play a complete set forwards, backwards, and sideways. Playing a club isn't playing at a party. Get on the stage. Shut fuck up. Play.

Exactly. Compared to most cities, we're really spoiled as far as musical choice, diversity, and yes, excellence, are concerned.

I think the ratio is the same as it's always been for the past 20 years i've paid attention.

A select handful of truly great bands, a great vast many average to mediocre bands.

Who cares as long as everyone involved is enjoying themselves?

Damn, that is exactly what I should say to someone near and dear to me whose goofing-off under-rehearsed band I saw last week.
thanks!
